The School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans - Secondary (SPERS-Sec) is an organized process that helps Returning Singaporeans join secondary schools in the next academic year. It usually takes place in September or October, with registration opening in July.
If Returning Singaporeans are unable to come back by September/October, they can apply for the Supplementary Placement Exercise held in December. The application period for this exercise usually starts in October or November.
During the application process, students can choose up to six schools that they prefer. They need to rank these schools based on their preferences. However, they can only choose from a list of eligible schools provided to them in mid-January each year. It's important to note that they cannot select schools that are not on the eligible list. Successful students will need to report to their assigned school in February.
